Great hotel right in the centre of Cardiff , great staff and location

Hotel was good easy to find great location walking distance to city centre opposite the castle, the lady on reception was so helpful.

We have stayed at this venue before, pre Covid, so know the hotel. The circumstances were much changed but the hotel still had high levels of presentation, cleanliness, attentive and very helpful staff who made a great job of making you feel welcome and safe.There was a very well run reception, breakfast service, housekeeping and well maintained communal areas.We were pleased with all aspects of our stay.

A pleasurable experience from start to finish. Excellent, friendly staff, clean rooms, good food and also a safe place to stay and relax. Good location, close to city centre. Highly recommended.

I work for the NHS and this is the second time they have booked me in this particular hotel as I was Covid swabbing staff at a facility nearby. The service was second to none and nothing was too much trouble. I asked for an upgrade as the hotel was quiet and the staff were happy to grant my request. My room was wonderful, relaxing and quiet. It was spotlessly clean and the shower was incredibly powerful, it’s something I adore. Breakfast was delicious and served right on time. I also stayed at the sister hotel Holiday Inn the week before and it was again fabulous. I cannot recommend this chain highly enough. I will be staying twice next week.

The hotel is in a very convenient location in Cardiff. During these troubled times, the staff are doing all they can to provide a safe stay. The room was comfortable and clean and in hotel dining was made as safe as possible.

I like the location of this hotel, The staff are friendly and the food is nice. I recommend a sausage in the morning. Is delicious.Unfortunately I had a very noisy guest above my room and they were very heavy on their feet, the rooms are tired and the TV is a little old and clunky. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I would stay again.

Ran a small conference event here. The staff are superb and nothing is too much trouble. The facilities are excellent and were readily adapted to cope with the COVID situation - and they are very well-organised in this respect. The location is also good - only a short walk from the station and easily accessible by road. I would very seriously consider this venue for another event in the area. Well done and thank you!

As a key worker I have experienced various hotels during lockdown. The H.I. Cardiff central understands most local restaurants and bars are closed so offers hot evening meals and breakfast to be taken in the room. In my opinion this is safe and perfectly acceptable.As always the staff are friendly and understand guests are their for a reason.A safe, secure and pleasant base.

Fantastic hotel as always.Stayed here many times and always receive a friendly welcome at check-in, which is very easy and quick.The rooms are clean and tidy, offering all the basic facilities. Extras are provided in the executive rooms.

Stayed many nights for work and was always comfortable and clean rooms. Staff were excellent and very helpful under the circumstances. The hotel is in an excellent location to access Cardiff city centre and has a beautiful park right opposite.

Overall we were happy with our stay and would stay again. We paid a really good price for one night including breakfast, so were really pleased with the value for money.The hotel is in a great location for city centre shopping and is within easy waking distance of Cardiff Central train station. However, the room was small and tired. I cant remember the last time I saw a double bed in a hotel room and it felt small, as well as being really uncomfortable. Also, the room was so small there wasnt enough room to get out of one side of the bed, and the room was uncomfortably warm over night. The dressing table drawers were broken so we had to lift the drawer to close it. Nothing really that spoiled the stay but we were surprised that little things werent addressed by such a large hotel chain.

Great stay, welcoming staff who are professional and polite. They were quick to help with any questions and concerns. Hotel was clean. Grab and go breakfast was great.

Great location crntral and quiet.. Room was quiet no noise from adjacent rooms or corridor. Staff were friendly. We stayed 3 nights and due to covid room was not cleaned and toiletries not replaced however clean towels were available at reception. The room was clean and needed a bit of a refresh but great value for money. On site car park was useful however the road was closed and l would have expected the hotel to make us aware of this as it was our first visit to the capital and took us 30 minutes to eventually find the hotel..overall we would stay again

Great staff and location.Only downside was having to walk through the smoking area at the hotel entrance.

Good sized rooms and everything you’d expect. Good location on the edge of the river and the city centre, close but quiet. Noise travels from rooms above, but otherwise quiet. Hotel is doing its best to be Covid safe, but feels a bit eerie. Breakfast grab bags were better than expected - but by eating them in the restaurant may as well serve breakfast?

Nice big room, big windows, all the usually things you need in room. Beds average, not super comfy but OK. Lovely friendly staff! The people in the room below were really noisy, I complained the next day and they happily moved me to another room. Plenty of hand sanitisers by lifts etc. Would stay again. Location was amazing. 2 min walk to town centre.

The hotel is in a perfect location to visit Cardiff. For its location it is great value. The hotel is also very clean and comfortable. We did not try the food so can not comment. The Covid-19 care was good and we felt safe. The night porter/security was a little officious locking the door to exit and entrance whilst away from the desk, when guests have cards to get back in? Maybe this is a hotel system problem.

Hotel is good value for money. Great location. Quiet. Have stayed here many times. Felt safe in these difficult times as people kept their distance, used hand sanitisers and wore masks. Would stay again

The staff we’re very friendly and helpful. We needed to change our room and this was done without any issues or fuss. The room was very clean and warm with the bed and pillows very comfortable.

This hotel is in need of refurbishment, the carpets are threadbare. When I am next in Cardiff I wil use a different hotel until this one is revamped

Everything was perfect apart from the bathroom. It was way too small. Just enough for one person to enter. Shower was broken, water was leaking and the pressure was very bad. It was just a bad room we were given, otherwise hotel is great and previously our experience with this hotel was perfect.

Great location, great staff, poor breakfast!Appreciate that’s the Buffett breakfast was not available but the airline type ‘bacon baguette’ was poor. If I can order in a Wetherspoons breakfast on just eat why can’t the hotel provide a basic one? Take the order the night before so you know how many you need to make then provide it in the morning

The hotel was really easy to find due to its large sign and location near the stadium, and the check in was just as easy especially during these strange times. The hotel was just outside of the city centre and close to the large food area so there was almost an impossible choice when it came to picking the best food and shopping places. The parking was cheap enough to warrant walking everywhere and leaving the car in the car park for the whole weekend.

Very central hotel, friendly staff and very comfortable rooms. Only thing I could leave constructive feedback on was their bacon ciabatta roll that was served for breakfast during their restricted offering due to current circumstances... I love bacon rolls but could never eat more than a third of it... Open it up and it looks like thinly covered and discoloured ham. Other than that, very happy to recommend... Maybe opt for their other option of mozzarella and pesto for breakfast instead.

Visited on the 22nd September, staff were great both on reception and bar restaurant. Shout out to the young man who looked after us at dinner. Very attentive and couldnt be more helpful. Hotel is very clean and you can see a major effort is being made to keep covid risk as low as possible. We stay here whenever we visit Cardiff and would not stop anywhere else. Just a great Hotel.

The most outdated Holiday Inn I have stayed in with old wooden furniture and the bathroom dated with shower in a step over bath. Breakfast was poor and they could do with seeing how other Holiday Inns deliver their breakfasts. I can recommend doing as the Bath Holiday Inn do. Breakfast was bland and there was no real choice - very disappointing. My room choices weren’t implemented. On a plus the room was immaculately clean and the staff very helpful. Overall poor value compared to other Holiday Inn accomodation.

Really lovely hotel in a great location. Very clean and ‘Covid’ organised, staff were polite and helpful whilst there. Breakfast was awful - takeaway bag and really not sure what vegetarian option was, smelt and looked vile so went in the bin! Left mobile charger, unable to speak to anyone on phone, emailed hotel but no reply. All in all, lovely hotel but don’t bother with breakfast and don’t leave anything behind!!

The facilities are fine, food fine but the stand out quality of this hotel is the staff.Obviously due to current challenges the staff are somewhat slimmed down. In a city centre fully booked hotel we literally had the same member of staff doing everything, knocking herself out to look after us. She greeted us at reception, served us in the restaurant, we saw her serving drinks, she brought room service and when we had to call maintenance it was the same lady (Fiona) who came to our door with a tool kit and drinks for us. (Bar was closed due to covid) This woman needs a pay rise.Unfortunately we spent more time outside our room than in, being locked out with a faulty door. Leading to cold food on one occasion and being late on another.

The hotel is only a short walk from the Principality Stadium, BBC and other key locations, plus right over the road from a gorgeous park. I will be visiting again with my family when the current pandemic has passed.

Hotel stay always satisfactory at this HI, great location, decent menu and rooms. However I always get the same problem, I hardly ever get my welcome points IHG points issued. The day after I stayed in Preston HI within seconds of checking in points allotted to my account! Why is it such a issue for Cardiff Holiday Inn?

Staff doing their best during Covid. Everything is in place to protect their guests. Only problem was getting to the hotel as Castle Street is closed for social distancing reasons. Road closed. It took me 50 minutes to get to the hotel from only a few miles away. To be fair I forgot, so it was my fault but It said on the hotel website, to enter from the North, A48 but that was not necessary, as when I finally arrived I was told that I would be have been allowed access to the hotel. To tell the men blocking the road that I was staying at the Holiday Inn. Next day exited without a hitch. Maybe that information should be put on the website to help guests. To save a lot of stress. To be fair to the hotel, this just happened at very short notice and little notice.I stay regularly here and always find it a good experience and the staff are excellent.

The hotel is in a great location for exploring all that Cardiff has to offer. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the rooms are clean and we had a great view of the stadium.Good value for money and would definitely stay here again

I cannot fault this hotel. The staff are courteous and friendly and dealt with us in a prompt and efficient manner. The rooms were nice and clean, however, one of them smelled of cigarette smoke which spoiled the experience for those in our party who stayed in that particular room. Other than that, nice hotel.

We stayed at Holiday Inn Cardiff city for the purpose of Christmas shopping, we chose mid week as knew it would be quieter. The room was clean, tidy

These are very challenging times for all concerned but the staff remain positive, friendly and helpful.

The staff made my visit, from helping me find a solution to my laundry to accepting a very late order for breakfast. They are working hard making a difficult situation a bit more bearable

So arriving in a post covid world we have to respect social distancing, occupy only one person in a lift and have no bar service and room service on a limited menu and worst of all paper cups to drink coffee from. The room was clean and comfortable however and I give gratitude that I am not sleeping on the streets like some. I am forced to travel and it was my first post lock down experience and quite austere and dismal. The experience will encourage me to continue with my zoom meetings.

Unfortunately our room was dirty and smelled of smoke. The staff were rude and our tv was broken. Very disappointed for the money, would not recommend

We recently stayed at this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was basic but clean.My only issue was that we had a front facing room which meant that we had a lot of outside noise due to the busy location. Next time I would just request a rear facing room.

As always when I stay at the Holiday in Cardiff City, with work or otherwise, I found the staff to be helpful, curious and always happy to assist, front entry to exit, there are distance markers, screams, hand gel stations at every point throughout the hotel giving me the customer that extra assurance that your staff were going that extra mile to keep me and my co workers safe in these worrying stressful timesThank you

The Holiday Inn Cardiff is perfectly located in the centre of Cardiff with easy access to the city centre and outer ring road.The hotel has a reasonable sized car park although it would become full on a weekday let alone a weekend. The hotel check-in process is quick and efficient, and should you be an IHG Rewards club member then you have the option to spin the prize wheel to win some bonus points or a free drink etc. The room was very clean and tidy and being located on the 5th floor meant that it was an executive room which is unlocked by the IHG points balance. The room has a large bed and additional sofa along with a table and chair plus a desk. The bathroom was immaculate and the shower was very powerful. The restaurant boasts a large menu with good quality food which never failed to impress through the week. The checkout process was again quick and simple before leaving the hotel, hoping to return soon.

Stayed several times, always welcoming and friendly. On had breakfast, full English excellent standard.

The staff were exceptional helpful especially the general manager. I would recommend this hotel just for the staff attention to detail and customer care.

We use this hotel whenever we visit Cardiff. With its central location opposite the castle and adjacent shopping/ entertainment areas it is a great place to stay.The hotel has good parking and the staff are very friendly and helpful.The rooms are spacious and well equipped with super comfy beds and we always enjoy a good nights sleep. The hotel is spotlessly clean and all public areas are well furnished with comfortable seating in the lounge bar and restaurant.But with the tea/coffee making facilities , what happened to the complimentary welcome biscuits? Come on now management thats a saving too far!!Also as the hotel is getting on in years some new carpet and a few odd tidying up jobs need doing. eg: A bit of trim was missing from our bedside table - purely cosmetic but necessary to maintain quality standards. These however are purely personal niggles and in no way affect our enjoyment of the hotel. Indeed after a splendid breakfast you are ready for anything- even battling the Christmas shopping hordes. All in all a great hotel with super staff , lovely spacious rooms kept spotlessly clean and good food available in the restaurant. Cant wait for our next visit.

All of the staff went out of their way to assist in any queries or requests I had. These are extenuating times and the hotel and its staff are doing a very good job in difficult circumstances.

Friendly informative and helpful lady on reception at check in. The breakfast bag was ok maybe could do with a Croissant or cake. The veggie option was very tasty. Felt safe regarding coronavirus. Check out was good.

I always use this hotel when in Cardiff as so convenient for the rugby (right next door). The staff are friendly and welcoming. The grounds are clean and tidy - the car park is tight and challenging but if you get there early enough its not normally a problem and also essential for International Match days, its a City Centre after all?The interior is clean and tidy albeit a painting and decorating refresh is probably now due. The rooms are also clean and tidy but I wouldnt recommend a 3rd adult using the sofa for a good nights sleep, its made up as a bed but really uncomfortable!The breakfast is a hot buffet style and good value with lots of choice.

Very comfortable room. Clean and staff friendly. Room needs updating as can see has been used for many years and bath needs cleaning up as stained. Check in staff very friendly however, housekeeping checked twice on our room to see if empty before check out time on last day. Unneeded disturbance.

Comfortable bed, blackout curtains worked well, Air con kept room cool.Food was good although choice slightly limited on evening meal and breakfast was disappointing but understandable under current circumstances.Staff very friendly and helpful.

Great place to stay and is central to a great shopping experience.Food was excellent and the beds were so comfortable. The staff were very helpful and no waiting around at reception. Good parking facilities. A very roomy hotel with lots of facilities. A well stocked tea/ coffee tray. Staff most helpful. I will definitely visit this hotel again and will recommend to all my friends/ family.

We arrived early and were able to go to our rooms straight away. The room, including bathroom were extremely clean and well presented.The breakfast was excellent with a wide variety including for a vegetarian. The car park was being re-surfaced while we were there. The staff were really helpful in showing where an alternative could be found. Everyone was helpful no matter what time nor how busy they were. A true credit.

Holiday Inn Cardiff is perfectly located in the town center. It has parking on site. The staff are friendly and helpful make you feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble. The layout is good with plenty of room on arrival. The superior rooms are spacious and the bed is very comfortable. Good choice for breakfast will definitely stay again.

Slap bang in the heart of Cardiff city centre within minutes of bars and restaurants. Friendly, welcoming staff my only criticism is that certain aspects of the hotel are a little tired and are in need of an update. However, it is clean and functional and otherwise did not affect my stay.One thing I would say is, when the rooms are eventually refurbished, please put a socket by the bed for charging phones and tablets.

I was finding it hard to find to find somewhere suitable to interview candidates. Tommy offered me a room at a really great price. It was quiet, clean, professional and well organised.

Staff are as always incredibly friendly. Hotel bed was massive and very comfortable. Its obviously situated in the city centre so a perfect location.

Recently stayed at Cardiff and was initially very disappointed at the changes to the road layout which caused much delay and a fine of £35.00 for allegedly using a bus lane!We eventually arrive hot and bothered and was not welcomed well, given our experience.However, the General Manager came to the rescue and made our stay really special. It was not so much what he said (words are cheap) it was the way he led by example by doing all the things that one would expect from a hotel of this ilk. Because of his timely intervention we will be back. If your going to stay here remember his name, Richard aka slimey. We found out that he has lost loads of weight during the lockdown period!!

Great Location and ok value but tired, grey and miserable looking, needs brightening up throughout, knackered out old TVs need replacing, hardly any sockets in the room and terrible lighting
