Staying at the Yide Hotel was rather magical. if Im not mistaken I was the only guest the one night I was there and the proprietor could not have been more attentive and solicitous. She upgraded my room without my asking for it since the hotel was otherwise empty; every time I exited or returned she immediately came outside and asked if I needed anything. her ability to speak English so well made my trip easier. Its a special place.

Staying at Yide Hotel in Pingyao was a truly memorable and wonderful experience for me. The hotel is a lovely, Qing Dynasty home that has been brilliantly refurbished and equipped with modern hotel amenities (e.g air conditioning, modern toilets and showers, etc) in a manner that makes it extremely comfortable and convenient, yet without lessening the authentic, old feel which makes it so appealing.The food at the restaurant is superb, with a nice, big array of regional Chinese dishes, Pingyao specialties, and some western food available too.Above all though, I feel it was the exceptional hospitality and genuine friendliness of the staff that made my stay so great. I would both return myself and recommend Yide Hotel to friends or anybody wanting to visit Pingyao in a heartbeat.

A great location to access the main streets of the town, very friendly services with English-speaking staff, and wonderful restaurant with English menu and vegetarian selections open from morning to late night. Rooms are atmospheric like in a Zhang Yimou movie, and the bathroom is really modern, with a terrific shower. Very lovely place to feel at home to enjoy your experience in Pingyao.

It was around 300 years old and decorated authentically. Absolutely beautiful rooms and courtyards. Delicious dinner in the fabulous restaurant. Staff was wonderful and helpful in every way. Also provided a ride to the train station at a great cost

Stayed before, will stay again. Traditional Chinese hotel with old China style. Food great as usual, our fifth visit in two years. Must be good then!!,

The bed has to be the largest bed Ive ever slept in. The covers must weigh 10 pounds. lots of electrical outlets for phone chargers, etc.. turning the bathroom into a shower was interesting. was very clean. bottled water was very much appreciated.

The Yide is one of the most wonderful hotels we have stayed at in our travels throughout China. The location is just right - off the beaten path, but close enough to the action. The staff was amazing - cordial and warm, attentive to our needs and pro-active in helping us with our plans. The room was clean, spacious and authentically China. We especially loved the kang bed. We would highly recommend the Yide.

We booked this hotel because our son wanted to experience what it was like in China 300 years ago. The hotel is away from the busy main street but walking distance. The hotel is clean, staff attentive and a dining room is just steps from our room. The bed is very comfortable and the sheets ironed and fresh. I like five star hotels but our son is a Professor and history buff so he did not mind the small room.

We love the Yi Di hotel. Staff are lovely and very helpful, rooms are traditional and have been upgraded since our previous stay and the food is fabulous, the best in town. Convenient for everything to see and do in the town but also further afield. Hire a car and driver from reception - visit the locations listed on the chart.

For a taste to what living in old China may have been like, this hotel is a good start. The rooms are in original buildings and reflect the ancient age of the place. Traditional, not a modern five star, soulless hotel. Food is exceptional. The same chef has been in residence for 13 years and the meals were first class.

Located on a quiet street 5mins from the main “thoroughfares” of the old Pingyao, this gem of a hotel is like stepping into history. The courtyards and rooms look like the must have been hundreds of years ago. Rooms are very clean and discreetly fitted with modern amenities; no plastic decorations! Staff speak passable to good English.

There are twenty odd rooms set around various courtyards. The traditional courtyard setting offers a unique experience where you feel you have stepped into the past. In our room, a large kang style bed took up most of the space and the rest of the furniture was also traditional - an unforgettable experience. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The restaurant serves good food.

The hotel is amazing. A very well preserved authentic historical building. The services is top notch. The food at the restaurant is very good too, so we had dinner here on two nights. My only complain is that the wifi is slow at night when all the guests are back at the hotel and using the bandwidth.

My family and I (2 adults, 3 children) stayed one night in a family suite, which we found to be very spacious and comfortable. Nice historic property. Hotel staff were very friendly and some spoke English. We enjoyed one Chinese style dinner and one Western style Breakfast, both very good.

Charming, great atmosphere. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Westerners should be prepared for small bathrooms with just ok showers. Good restaurant on site. Perfect for 1-2 night stay in Pingyao

Very cool historical hotel to stay at. The rooms are very clean, the attached restuarant was excellent, and service was great. They even helped me arrange a private driver that drove me to Hanging Temples, the Yungang grottoes, and then to Beijing...only wish I had more time to stay in this amazing little town.

This hotel was superb. Perfect location, visually very beautiful, the room was spacious enough for 2, the service was impeccable and the food at the restaurant was simply delicious. Wouldnt hesitate to book again or recommend to my family and friends.

Great placer to stay in Pingyao. Very historic and authentic Chinese courtyard conversion. Closest to the real china we had hoped to see. Exceptional staff and very good catering

Great location in Pingyao, a quiet place with very nice and helpful staff. It feels like housing in a ancient time without missing with all the amenities from today :-)
