The Wellesley is a well located luxury boutique hotel with small but well equipped rooms. Arrival experience was not that great and I did not find the doormen that friendly.Check-in was okay but had to show proof of Elite Membership but then received nothing for it despite having book via Marriott’s website!Room was compact and bijoux but quiet and well equipped.Butler service was good but would be good to have a menu of what they offer.Food was okay but service was inconsistent and language problems made this worse:Disturbed sleep due to very noisy neighbours and then poor checkout experience with it taking nearly an hour to get the car brought round!

Was overall excellent. My shower had some repairs that needed to be fixed but it happened right away. I was a bit disappointed that I was put in an accessible room so the bathroom was not very functional. Was hoping they would move me or upgrade me for a reasonable price but didn’t happen. Still, was very satisfied overall. Thanks.

Although the hotel is pretty, the service and room functionality are not worthy of a 5 star hotel. Despite paying the typical price of a top class hotel, expect a Marriott which is what this hotel is.The doorman did not meet us to help with our bags when checking in. Our suite (401) faced an extremely busy road and had french doors that wouldn’t stay closed, so our room was very loud. There was no cold water from the taps in the bathroom, it went from hot to Luke warm. Room service forgot items. House keeping didn’t bring back express laundry on time and didn’t provide turn down service one night despite the service room light being on. The suite, their top level room, was literally 2 feet from the elevator.Our suite was booked through Expedia and was stated to have either 2 twin beds or 1 king. This was not the case and when I requested twin beds several days prior to check in, I was told this was not possible. Michela, the person that I dealt with through multiple emails, was not helpful nor terribly apologetic. I was also not allowed to cancel the reservation. Even though the hotel was aware that the suite was to house 2 people that preferred twin beds, it was not set up with separate bedding or a roll away upon check in. I had to request it myself from the check in staff. The Wellesley clearly doesn’t deserve it’s 5 star rating.

When I checked in I was told by the check-in staff that my status with Marriot Bonvoy does not entitle me for a suite upgrade and because I booked a Junior Suite I can’t be upgraded any further. I think that statement was absolutely incorrect and so far every time I stayed at a Marriot property I would be upgraded to the best suite without even asking for it! I except that upgrades are based on availability and if the hotel is completely full no upgrade can be provided but I don’t except the check-in staff to tell me I don’t qualify for it.The second issue I faced was with check-out, on the night prior to me checking out at 8:00 p.m. I got a letter delivered to my room explaining that I will not be offered late check-out at 4:00 and I need to check-out at 12:00. I was extremely upset with this since it clearly states that I get guaranteed late check out as part of my Platinum privileges. On the day of check out I talked to the front desk staff to ask for my late check out and they refused saying that they needed the room for another guest and it needs to be cleaned. They offered me 5,000 points on my Bonvoy account which I thought was radicles.When booking my hotels I pick them carefully based on my needs and I have a lot of hotels to choose from that give me upgrades and late check-out with no hassle. For example I have Amex Platinum card which offers me guaranteed late check-out. But I decided to stay within the Marriot hotels based on my platinum status, loyalty program and previous experience.I am very disappointed with what happened at the Wellesley hotel and this experience have shaken my confidence and will make me think very hard before booking with Marriot group again which is very unfortunate since I been a loyal member for a very long time.

We arrived at the hotel a bit anxious from some other reviews we read about the smell of cigars in the room. We are so glad we did. The hote was amazing. Staff were so attentive, made our experience unbelievable. The room was a great size, at no point did we smell smoke. The bathroom was fantastic with a classical but modern feel to it which worked so well. Our butler Aaron was just so knowledgeable and a genuinely nice person. We had breakfast at the cozy oval restaurant which was such a nice change from larger restaurants. We had such a great stay and all the staff were fantastic. I’m so happy we ignored some of the negative reviews and stayed here.

Outstanding facility, location and service at the Wellesley Knightsbridge. Just far enough away from the tourist crush but close to Underground and easy walk to most everything. Hyde Park across the street for the morning run. Service staff is on par or better than anything previously experienced at Ritz Carlton stays.

Imagine going to a beautiful restaurant with gorgeous furnishings and architecture and getting a less than average sandwich and being overcharged for it. Thats what this experience was. What the hotel is trying to be aesthetically vs. what it is capable of delivering from a service perspective and in terms of getting all the details right is vastly different. What you might be impressed with: hotel location, room furnishings, in room amenities & décor, technology features. What you might be disappointed in: door service/bellman, overcharges on bill, lapses in maid service.

I looked at the ratings before i booked and was almost scared away. They are very low. The reason for the low rating is the smell of smoke from the cigar bars. It’s an issue but, in my opinion , a very small one compared to the outstanding staff and the personalized service at every level in the hotel. In every respect, it is a luxury collection hotel. The rooms are a bit small but very well appointed. The Hyde park corner location is very central and next to the tube station. Bottom line : I would highly recommend this hotel despite the small smoke issue. I commend this hotel on its commitment to excellence!

Das Hotel kann ich nicht weiterempfehlen. Unsere Suite war viel zu klein. Der Checkin ist eine Desaster, beim checkout gibt es nichtmal eine stunde Verlängerung. Das Frühstück ist wie in einer Jugendherberge, keine Auswahl. Die Bedienungen sind beim Frühstück sehr sehr nett, die Fahrer auch, der Wagen ist allerdings schon sehr sehr gebraucht. Das Personal in der Bar ist teilweise sehr nett und teilweise sehr blasiert. Von den Herrschaften beim Checkin kann ich nur warnen. Ich wurde selten so unhöflich und blasiert behandelt. Die Abrechnung war falsch und wurde nur sehr wiederwillig korrigiert, dies war dann auch nochmal falsch. Es gibt in London viele Hotels die einen besseren Service bieten für weniger Geld.

Excellent! Great location close to Buckingham Palace, parks and good shopping. Beautiful room with luxurious finishes. Wonderful staff and service who accommodated a special request and were over the top friendly!My only very tiny negative observation (but please don’t let this stop you from staying in this superb hotel) is that we were turned away from breakfast one morning as my husband was wearing shorts. I totally understand that this is a high end hotel with high end dining, however turning away shorts (golf shorts mind you, not athletic shorts) seems a bit antiquated particularly when others were seen wearing sweat pants/pajama pants. However the breakfasts were delicious and service top notch so again, do not let this deter you. Overall we were thrilled with our stay in this hotel and would recommend to anyone looking for a little luxury and exemplary service!Thank you for helping to make our holiday so enjoyable!

This was my first stay at The Wellesley. I come fairly regularly to London and used to stay at another Starwood hotel, but the last three times I had some billing issues (they blocked my credit up to six times with the amount of the stay) Elena from Starwood in Cork suggest that I try The Wellesley. After a bumpy start making the reservation I gave the hotel a shot.The Wellesley is located right across the Hyde Park. Theres a bus stop just right in front of the hotel and a tube station within not even two minutes walking distance. The staff greets you always, is very nice and polite. I got an upgrade to a suite that was nicely decorated. As is the hotel as well. It is a small charming hotel. As a platinum gift I chose the breakfast. I asked for orange and grapefruit juice and both of them are fresh squeezed (two thumbs up!). One night my guests and I were in for a pizza and the concierge recommended a very nice Italian restaurant with one of the best pizza I had in a very long time. They have a Rolls Royce service that got us to the restaurant. The two winter gardens are (unfortunately) smoking areas. The Wellesley makes some of their money selling cigars and people get there just to smoke. Not my cup of tea, but I was lucky to have a suite so was holding my meetings in my room. I got to the hotel in the middle of a heat wave and my air conditioning wasnt working. I complaint about it several times and the only thing that really bothers me is how the staff communicate or I should better say not communicate. It is hard to sleep in a room that has no A/C - I woke up both nights several times sweating, needed to move my Friday meeting to a different location and I had to complain about it on Saturday again, until they finally brought me the promised van. I complaint very strongly on Saturday night and got some information and when I checked out Sunday morning I got even more information. They couldnt move me to another room, because they were fully booked and they had technicians coming in all the time working on that problem, but they couldnt figure out what the problem is. If I wouldve got that information before, I wouldve felt much better. They assured me they will compensate me for that on Monday and I am quite sure they will.Over all I believe the A/C problem was a single incident and Ill give The Wellesley a second chance next time I am in London.

Ein wunderbares Hotel in bester Lage mit toller Zigarrenauswahl in der Cigar Lounge. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und gut ausgebildet. Für uns war das Bett zu hart, allerdings haben wir erfahren das man sich den Betthärtegrad aussuchen kann, wenn man es rechtzeitig bekannt gibt.

We had staying in hotel for 4 days for out honeymoon, cause of the flight delay we arrived hotel at 2 AM in the morning. I had using the suit award to upgrade the room 20days before we arrived but still no working, they told me the room was oversold , so they upgrade someone else as i am a platinum member, only thing i had enjoy is free breakfast. They arrange me in the disability room that had super super tiny wash bay i could not even wash my face properly. I am asking them to swap the room for me they told me the room was fully booked, but i could still see the available online and try to ask me do the pay upgrade to the one suit room that i had apply for. I will say it is really not worth to stay there unless you got plenty money to book the suit.

Stayed at the hotel for a birthday and everyone was amazing in helping to plan. Location is just great, as you can easily walk to Buckingham Palace, Picadilly or Harrods. In saying all of that, it was the BEST breakfast we ever had in comparison to everywhere else we have ever stayed. Value for my money. The decor in the whole hotel was stunning.

Went for day trip to watch Hamilton at Victoria theatre. Great location as hotel is in close proximity. Fabulous lavish extras such as rolls Royce service and Butler service are exceptional benefits for guests. Decor oozed class and elegance of the ages. Will 100% be back for sure.

Chose the hotel because of its proximity to Hyde Park (went to a concert there). Asked for early check in and got it. The service was top notch. Some highlights: complimentary ironing service (limited) upon check in, a ride to Harrods in the Rolls Royce, a cell phone for your use for local calls and web use, live jazz in the club The only downside that I can think of is the lingering smell of cigar smoke in the lobby.

I stayed for a night in the Ella Fitzgerald Suite which was very luxurious and up do days with technology. The staff was very attentive and tried very hard to get us into our rooms early. Cant wait to go back and would definitely recommend as somewhere to stay for a special occasion.

The staff present themselves immaculately and the service is sublime. What is so unusual is every staff member is thoughtful. The rooms are beautifully appointed. I will definitely return here in the near future and hope to stay longer on my next visit and experience the hotel in its entirety.

They had me at a complimentary ride in the Hotels Rolls Royce with a very professional driver! But the service goes way further - every request and need receives an eager response. The staff actually learns guests names! Truly gorgeous decor and amazing bedding and towels. Such a gem.
